"You're a procrastinator extraordinaire."
"Well, it sure didn't work last year..."
"Yeah, but you sure were calm about it."
--Two guys in Pimentel Hall before a midterm
Sure, procrastination is bad for the grades, and it's important to study hard and try your best... but at the same time, I think there's something to be said for someone who realizes that a midterm isn't a life or death situation.

That is, "I took the test AND knew nothing."

Heh. I'm even late editing my comment...

I'm months late for this thread, how's that for procrastination?

I took a geology course for a science requirement. Close to finals, I realized I was not doing well in that class and could kiss my scholarship good-bye if I finished with a C or lower (had a C- for the lab, and a not-much-better for the lecture).

So the night before the test I finally studied. Studied for hours, until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. Studied like I never had before. I took the test knew nothing. I was really depressed.

When they posted the test results, I looked at the center of the list and couldn't find my grade. Uh-oh, I thought. Bottom of the list, same deal. At last, I looked at the top of the list. There I was. Absolute top of the list.

Graded on the curve, I got 100% on the final, pulling my total grade up to an A-. Don't be too impressed though--I only got 64% of the questions right. It's sort of sad to think of all the geo majors taking that class who didn't get even know 64% of the answers.

Actually, I like to think of it as mental, subconscious preparation, gearing up for production mode.

My roommate late one night/early one morning as we were putting off studying for a test:

"We could be the poster children for procrastination."

Except for the fact that the poster might never get made, or put off till the last minute before it was due, and we'd never get our picture on it - :o)

If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would get done :)

Ah, that most powerful of motivations: last minute panic!

Hey, there's something to be said about procrastination. I had a fifteen page term paper due in psychology a couple semesters ago that I procrastinated until the night before. So I pulled an all nighter, doing research and all, had to change my subject at llpm, finished the bibiliography as my alarm was going off at 5:30 the next morning, and got 94% on the paper. How's that for procrastination?
