\"Come on, martinis at Martuni\'s! Even Melinda\'s coming. Market at Valencia.\"
\"How is either of those things possible? And anyway, especially now, no.\"

So.... how \\\'bout dem Colts, huh? Think they\\\'ll avoid imploding like they did last postseason?

No!

I think they will implode like any other year (and I hope so, because I strongly don\\\'t like Peyton Manning). First of all, Manning has never been, is not and will never be a clutch player. All season they have never been behind by more than 10 points and they never had to play catch up for more than a field goal in the fourth quarter. Plus they haven\\\'t met a seriously aggressive pass rush yet, which gives Manning time to make throws. Also, their running game is not too impressive, I think he will crumble as soon as he meets some serious opposition in the playoffs. Second, their defense is bad. The only reason that hasn\\\'t mattered so far, is that they haven\\\'t played a high octane offense yet. I\\\'d be surprised (and saddened) to even see them make the superbowl.

I gave up on them. Polluting my vodka with vermouth just never made sense. I\\\'ll just drink vodka with a twist instead.
Look!

What`s that over there? Why, it`s some random links.

A thousand curses on you, Saint! The reading of Gord\\\'s misadventures (I started with Book 1, Chapter 1, naturally) had me thoroughly engrossed when I really need to be doing productive things, like washing dishes or sending out resumes!

I\\\'m totally bookmarking the home page.

You want some more?

I have to admit, some of the things Gord supposedly says to his customers, I have trouble believing he really said them. But heaven knows everybody in retail, or any service industry, has wanted to say such things, at one time or another, so I suspend my disbelief and simply enjoy.

Just because I can, more random links.

I guess I should specify, all the random links in this thread are work-safe.
Too many ``m``s, maybe.

I think some people can handle only so much alliteration at once.

So is it that Melinda wouldn\\\'t come out for martinis, or that she wouldn\\\'t be seen at Martuni\\\'s?

And with the \\\"especially now, no\\\" comment, I have to imagine it\\\'s either after midnight (and she\\\'s three sheets to the wind) or before noon.

Not a fan of martinis. So many of them seem to be more about the person showing off how fancy they are, drinking from a funny-shaped glass, then actually having a beverage they enjoy.

Maybe she just doesn`t like Melinda, so now, since Melinda will be there, she especially doesn`t want to go.

I suspect this quote would be a lot funnier to me if I was familiar with the area, and knew something about the places mentioned.

Oh, and I agree most martinis are more about show than flavor. They`re a lot like the overly-decorative desserts of fancy restaurants--you know, the ones that are 90% icing or syrup drizzled on a plate in fancy patterns and turn out to be made with fish eggs or hot peppers or something just for the sake of being different.

Geography jokes!

...Yeah, I nearly laughed out loud when I heard her, and after 6 years (6?!) of doing this, I\'m normally good at keeping my cool.

I suspect one of the impossible things is the Market and Valencia intersection -- Valencia is parallel to Mission, and Mission is parallel to Market. But Valencia and Market are, in fact, perpendicular. Space bends somewhere around our not-on-maps 13th street.

In only-in-name related news, the song O Valencia by the Decemberists is is great, and it\'s not even the best song on their new album. If you\'re at all a fan of indie-victorian-pirate-sea-chanty-meets-1970s rock, give it a listen.

No wonder your comments get nuked when you say things like that, big guy.

Lychee martini, China Palace, Pittsburgh. Sooooo tasty. I will admit that the tiny plastic sword is purely decorative.

Grad school has swallowed me whole.

I`ve been avoiding this post because everything I can think to add to it ends up sounding dirty somehow. Sword swallowing aside. (*sigh*) I don`t even have time for drinks. Even impossible ones.
