Epoch, turning point, freaked out beyond belief

I, umm...I just quit my job. !!!!!!!

Scared to death and want to sing, "Free at last, free at last...Thank God Almighty, I am free at last!" Which seems terribly appropriate, come to think of it, considering what yesterday was.

Well IG....there is an opening at my current place of employ. Wanna move down here?

So.....it goes under the bay???
Neat!!

My mommy just sent me flowers!! She said to "Enjoy every minute of the rest of" my time here. And it's six white roses and a perfect dark pink gebera daisy, which I love. Yay!! Considering she wasn't thrilled with the idea at first, this is awesome.

I dreamt of getting going away flowers or "we'll miss you" somethings, but I didn't think I actually would.

I love Mike (even though he didn't send me flowers)!

Awwwww!
Posted by steff on Thu, 01/20/2005 - 10:12am.
that's so sweet! (glad they weren't shastas. *shudder* heh.)

it occurs to me (yeah, i could/should do this by email, but this is more fun) that there's no reason other than gas money that you couldn't make a weekend run to the audition and come back. i can't go with you that weekend (i really AM starting 3rd shift), but that's never stopped you before you wanted my truck to move your bed. *grin*

Reasons
Posted by Intelligirly on Thu, 01/20/2005 - 12:24pm.
Actually, there is a reason I can't go that weekend. Tailyn would kill me. That's the weekend she's coming home to say goodbye and also, I believe, planning a party for me. And because she won't have school and I won't have work, we're going to spend all weekend without sleeping, which will be great. I feel like calling them and saying, "Are you SURE I can't audition next weekend? I swear you won't regret it!" It'd be anybody but Juliet, but probably the nurse. I'd make a rockin' nurse!

Jon--read a little closer, my spouse. I can't audition but would like to. :) But hook me up with people who work at Stratford. *gasp* I just realized!! I'll be able to go to Stratford again for the first time in three (two?) years!!!!!!!! YAY!! And color tour!!! Oh, this is so marvelous.
I love Mike!

Reading incomprehension

Oops! Can't say I need new glasses, because I'm nearsighted... Correction noted. Mea culpa.

Still, I can do , because I know tons of people who work at semiprofessional theaters (i.e. not Equity-only shops). One person I know works at a summer acting camp. [The fact that it's about 10 minutes from my apartment has its allure too. *g*]

And, because I can't resist: Hellloooo nurse!
I'd offer cool points, but some people around here don't like them. Not naming names.

This is no time for reason!

Quit early! Break your two weeks' notice! Send for your things later! Have the farewell party in the car during the all-night drive to Michigan, and then have your insomniac friends be your ominous entourage for the audition! The producers be so impressed with your heedless bohemian lifestyle that they'll give you any role you want! It'll be great! You know you want to!

</call of seductive evil>

Er, no? Well, congrats on the move anyway. Nothing like being able to pack up and leave at a moment's (or a fortnight's, I guess) notice. Hmm, my job's pretty superfluous...

Oh wait, I just play on the computer anyway! And get paid. Huh. Maybe I'll stay just a bit longer.

Soooo, mike...
Posted by steff on Thu, 01/20/2005 - 10:18pm.
...what do you do? and, do they have an opening?? i kick ASS at playing on the computer.

yeah, sis... if you're going to stay awake all weekend anyhoo, pull a fast one on tailyn and tell her she's road tripping to michigan with you. heh.

what? i'd do it. *grin* but not if you warned a few days in advance. you know how i get.

My job?

Comma checker. For students. I'm not supposed to yell at 'em though: that's just a perk. So's all the computer time.
Details, details
Posted by Intelligirly on Thu, 01/20/2005 - 8:05am.
Soooooo sorry. I've been...well, I've been at work and not paying attention. Umm...okay, my last day is next Friday, the 28th. And instead of moving that night after work and getting into Michigan the next day and having the chance to audition for Romeo and Juliet at a theater I love there, (pause for moment of sadness and regret at having to be sensible and therefore missing out on theatre), I will be moving the next weekend. I have no actual job lined up, which scares me, but I have freelance opportunities, which is awesome, and I'm hoping to get a temp job and a full-time position that would be perfect for me, I think, is opening up soon after I get there that I have major connections for, which is always good.

I managed to quit not in anger, which is a scenario I played out in my head over and over again, (*stands up in righteous indignation* That's it! I quit!), so that was good, because I will need references. The really annoying thing is, even though I truly work two full-time jobs for less than the price of one, no one really seems to care that I'm leaving. Isn't that nice?

What other details do you need? Oh, yes, this is the place where I won AP awards, but that was more in spite of the place, rather than because of it. And I can take those with me. *grin*

And, Peegee, if you get me a full-time job in Denmark, I'm there. I'd love to live out of the country for awhile. That goes for pretty much anyone else, too--almost. Wait...do we KNOW anyone in the UK? I'll move there in a heartbeat. Or a job in Stratford, Ontario.

I love Mike!

Awesome! What part(s) did you try out for in R&J? I flubbed my last couple of auditions for plays by the Bard, so I've missed out for a while.
I have a feeling that you'll do well.

Actually, I know people who know people at Stratford. A friend of mine (and currently, directing me in a show) knows the head costumer up there. She got to visit the costume shop backstage last summer, and really enjoyed it. I'm not sure if my indirect knowledge will help you, though. :(

hey, i'm starting on 3rd shift next week, and nobody cares!

*grin* kidding. i know she's all freaked out, but i predict this will be marvelously good for her. but, if she's not telling all the details yet, neither will i.

i will reveal that she will be getting the hell outta iowa. *jealous* i think i can safely spill the beans about that. no more, though. don't wanna leave her completely thunderless.

Out of Iowa ?

I'm not sure, but you sound relieved, so congratulations. But wasn't that the job where you also won an AP award? I think I'd never have the guts to quit a job unless it were downright horrible or I had a new job in sight. Strangely, enough I have a song in my repertoire that would almost fit your situation, but nah...it's a quitting your relationship song. Good luck with everything.
