At Area:One at Shoreline Amphitheatre, Moby did something like that also.
"You know, there's something about being here in front of... twenty-two THOUSAND people...that's extremely satisfying. It's extremely satisfying to play a guitar in front of 22,000 people; who here plays the guitar? "etc. then he brought some random dude up on stage to play his guitar.
Someone probably complained at the last concert and the Shoreline people told him not to do it again.
