Was that a call for Chemistry Man?
Proteins are long chains of amino acids (about 30 different types). Nylon (there are a few types) is a repeat sequence of ONE type of molecule and it doesn't even look close to what an amino acid looks (or more importantly acts) like.
So the short answer is that that person was armed with just a leeeetle bit of knowledge, but took it and twisted it and made a conclusion that was wrong. And how many times has that happened?
